How it works

From business plan to shortlist in four steps

We do what an experienced grant consultant does first: read your plan, rule out what you can't apply for, rank what's left, and size up the competition. Every step runs on public data.

Build your profile

Upload a business plan, pitch deck, or project summary (PDF, DOCX, or plain text), or fill in a short form. We extract the facts that decide eligibility and fit:

  • Who you are: country of establishment, legal form, and size under the EU SME definition (headcount, turnover, balance sheet)
  • What you do: sector (NACE code), technology area, and keywords
  • How mature it is: an estimated Technology Readiness Level (TRL)
  • What you need: budget, timeline, and whether you have or want partners

You review and correct the extracted profile before anything is matched. The profile is only as good as what you confirm.

Filter on hard eligibility

Each call's topic page and documents set rules you either meet or don't. We parse them and remove calls you can't apply for:

  • Eligible countries, including Horizon Europe associated countries
  • Type of action (for example Research & Innovation Action, Innovation Action, Coordination & Support Action, EIC instruments) and who may apply
  • Consortium rules, such as a minimum number of independent partners from different countries
  • Applicant type restrictions (SME only, public bodies, research organisations)
  • Open, forthcoming, or closed status and deadline

Calls you nearly qualify for, such as ones that need partners you don't have yet, are kept and flagged rather than hidden.

Rank by fit

The remaining calls are ranked by how closely your plan matches:

  • The topic text: the call's scope, expected outcomes, and expected impact, compared with your plan using semantic text matching
  • Past winners: the summaries of projects funded under the same topic or its predecessor topics (from CORDIS and other project databases)
  • Practical fit: whether your budget need and TRL sit inside the range the call expects

Each match shows why it ranked where it did: the passages in the call text that line up with your plan, and the ones that don't.

Estimate your odds

Finally we estimate a success range for each shortlisted call. The method is below.

The odds model

What goes into a success estimate

Three inputs, each from a public source, combined into a range. When an input isn't available, we tell you which one and widen the range, or show nothing.

1 · Base rate

How often proposals win here

Proposals funded divided by proposals submitted, taken from the published results of previous rounds of the same topic or its predecessor. Where only call-level or programme-level figures exist (for example from the Horizon Europe Dashboard), we use those and label the estimate as less specific.

2 · Expected competition

How crowded this round will be

The work programme publishes each topic's indicative budget and typical grant size, which gives the expected number of grants. We compare this with how many applicants similar rounds attracted, and adjust for changes in budget between rounds.

3 · Fit adjustment

How you compare to past winners

A limited adjustment based on how closely your profile matches funded participants: topic similarity, organisation type, size, and country. It can move the estimate up or down, within set limits, but never overrides the base rate.

expected_grants = indicative_budget / typical_grant_size expected_proposals = f(past submissions for topic, budget change) base_rate = expected_grants / expected_proposals estimate = base_rate × fit_factor (fit_factor bounded, e.g. 0.6–1.6) shown as = range reflecting data quality (narrow: topic data · wide: programme data)

Simplified. Exact bounds are tuned by back-testing against rounds whose results are already published.

Known limits

What the estimate can't see

We only use data that is actually published. That means some things are out of reach, and the estimate should be read as a starting point, not a verdict.

Proposal quality. Evaluation scores are only shared with each applicant. We don't know how strong the rejected proposals were, or how strong yours will be.

Who lost. Unsuccessful applicants aren't published, so the fit adjustment compares you with winners only. That's why it's limited.

Brand-new topics. A topic with no predecessor has no history. We fall back to the call or programme rate and say so.

Changing rules. Work programmes change between rounds. If budget or scope has changed, the estimate is flagged as less reliable.
